Brent Haynes knows something about mission focus.
Haynes served in the Marine Corps as a helicopter crew chief before moving into the business world. His experience proved to be invaluable as he launched his own business in the Treasure Valley.
“There’s a huge emphasis on unity in the military,” Haynes explained. “From teamwork, camaraderie, and coming together to accomplish a goal. That’s something that translates into any career. It has definitely played a role in how we manage our team.”
Haynes and his wife Angie founded freedommaid® in 2008. The business has grown to serve the Treasure Valley with a reputation for quality, customer care, and exceptional service.
“We got into this business by accident,” Haynes admitted. “My wife Angie was laid off in 2007 and a friend of ours asked if she would help her clean her kitchen and pantry. That’s how freedommaid® was born.”
Haynes’ sense of duty to his country hasn’t changed since his tenure in the military, it echoes in the message presented through the family-owned business. The freedommaid® brand was built with a strong focus on community involvement. In 2011, the company was awarded the Governor’s Brightest Star Award for their volunteer contributions in the local community. The Haynes also actively volunteer for multiple causes, including providing free housecleaning for women undergoing cancer treatment through Cleaning For A Reason.
This year, Brent and Angie are celebrating another business milestone.
freedommaid® is expanding their presence in the Western United States. The 2014 Meridian Small Business of the Year is taking their unique and profitable approach to residential cleaning services, and turning it into an exciting franchise opportunity.
“We decided to pursue the franchise business model, because our character is to help others,” Haynes elaborated. “The franchise model allows us to assist others (franchisees) build freedom in their lives: whether that means breaking away from corporate America, or having the ability to spend more quality time with family while building a successful business of their own.”
Despite his success, Haynes has not forgotten his military roots. freedommaid® offers a 25% discount off of the franchise fees for veterans looking to start their own business. Haynes feels confident that veterans will have a unique perspective on small business ownership that will contribute to their success.
“I feel Veterans have a competitive advantage in the business world,” Haynes explained. “They have a solid understanding of mission completion while performing under stringent time-lines. They rally team members together and lead the effort with a high degree of situational awareness.”
